As Google says “The first step in the indexing process is discovery. A search engine has to know the pages exist”. That’s right, after you completed and published your website on the web, you must let the search engines know about your website so that they can come and visit your site. And the process you will go through to let the search engines know is called “indexing”. This index facilitates a search engine to obtain a query from the visitors and displays all the web pages present on the web, which match with the query of the visitors. This has been achieved by Google with the help of a set of computers, which are continually crawling the web. They contain a complete list of websites that are familiar to Google. The collection of these computers is known as Googlebot. Generally you would like Googlebot to access your website hence your web pages can be viewed by the visitors who are using Google as search engine.
Google adds and updates new websites to its index every time Google bots crawl the web. Google allows you to add your URL to the search engine. There is a provision available in Google, which facilitates you how to index your website on Google. You need to enter your entire URL, including the prefix and main name of the website, in the URL box. Below the URL box, there is another box, the Comments box. You can leave your comments about your website in the Comments box. You may also add here the keywords, which describes the contents of your website. However, the texts entered in the Comments box are only used for Google information and they do not have an effect on how your web page is indexed or utilized by Google. Even after you do all these Google cannot assure you about when or if your web site’s URL will appear.
You must keep one thing in mind that only the main web page from a website is required; you do not require adding each and every pages of your website. The Google crawler, which is known as Googlebot, is capable to find the rest of your web pages. The index of Google gets updated on a regular basis; therefore, outdated or updated link submissions are not required. Outdated links will disappear gradually from their index on their next crawl when they update their complete index. The search engine like Google read completely all the information in the web pages and then it creates an index of the information in the web pages.
